Between Hyde Park and Buckingham Palace, in the London district of Knightsbridge, stands a monument to British hospitality: The Lanesborough. The building, whose foundations date back to 1719 and which was renovated in 1825 by William Wilkins – famous for having designed the National Gallery – remained a luxury private residence until the 1980s, when the whole area became the most exclusive residential and commercial district in the British capital.
