Situated in the centre of Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, the luxurious 5-star Pulitzer hotel offers its guests peace and proximity to the main cultural and tourist points of the city.

The Pulitzer is located on the edge of the canals, less than 5 minutes’ walk from the house of Anne Franck and less than 10 minutes from the Royal Palace of Amsterdam.

By car, it takes only 25 minutes to reach the hotel and Amsterdam Schiphol International Airport.

The Pulitzer has parking and valet parking.

The 17th century is considered the golden century of the Netherlands. Boom periods for trade and the arts, it was during this period that the 2-colored facades at the edge of the canals appeared. Centuries later, the Hotel Pulitzer was born of the association of 25 of these typical city houses.

In symbiosis with the architecture of the city, the hotel combines luxury, comfort and charm. Following a complete renovation completed in August 2016, modernity and Dutch crafts coexist within the Pulitzer, creating a unique ambience and decoration.

The hotel has:

  • 4 indoor gardens
  • 1 restaurant
  • 1 bar
  • 1 café with a view of the gardens
  • 1 fitness room
  • 1 private boat
  • 1 library

At the Pulitzer, each room has its own character and all are arranged with care. For families, the Family Room with its 35 sqm (376 sqft) divided into 2 floors is perfect. It can accommodate up to 4 people.

The Family Suite, on the other hand, offers a more generous area of 70 sqm (753 sqft), also spread over 2 floors, plus a view over the canals.

Finally, the Pulitzer offers 5 Extraordinary Suites with thematic decorations that are absolutely unique, ranging from 37 sqm (389 sqft)-69 sqm (742 sqft).

A 24-hour check-in is available.

The Pulitzer is a pets-friendly hotel.

With its different breakfasts, brunches, lunches and evening meals, the Jansz guarantees a refined and varied cuisine throughout the day. With flavours from elsewhere and local products, everything is arranged for a sublime taste trip.

In a subdued atmosphere and a sober and elegant décor, the Pulitzer Bar offers a wide selection of cocktails and a selection of small snacks to accompany them.

At the garden-coffee break you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, light meals or a glass of wine. With its veranda and outdoor tables, Café Pause is an oasis of calm and freshness, ideal for relaxing at any time of the day.

Traveling with your family means discovering and sharing unique moments. The Pulitzer has grasped this importance and makes a point of looking after both parents and children.

Upon arrival, a welcome gift will await the children in your room.

Because it is so enjoyable to visit Amsterdam on foot, and to allow parents to travel light, the Pulitzer provides strollers for family travel to explore the city.

Baby cosmetics, baby menus, baby phones, high chairs, baby bathtubs, bottle warmers and cribs are all available on site.

Thanks to their hotel activity book, children can enjoy games and coloring at any time.

Finally, the 4 gardens within the hotel represent an ideal playground for younger guests. In one of them hides a giant swing and even a rocking horse!

The Pulitzer has its own boat, The Tourist. On board, its woodwork, its comfortable leather benches and its touches of marble make all its charm. Every day a departure is organized at 17:00 for a 75-minute cruise to discover the canals. From Thursday to Sunday an extra departure is planned at 11 am. A minimum of 3 persons is required for departure. The price is 38€ per person.

A 15-minute drive from the hotel, the Nemo Science Center in Amsterdam offers unique experiences to understand science while having fun. Energy, light and magnetic forces will no longer have any secrets for you after your visit. Moreover, the experience allows everyone to become a real chemist and to conduct their own experiments in a laboratory, complete with white coat, glasses and mask!

A visit to the zoo always delights young and old. This is greatcause Amsterdam is home to the oldest in the Netherlands. Built in 1838, the Zoo Artis is a true cultural testimony of the 19th century. It covers 14 hectares, 700 species of animals are observable, as well as an aquarium and a planetarium. From the Pulitzer Hotel it takes 15 minutes by car to reach it.

Less than 5 minutes walk from the hotel, the house of Anne Franck is undoubtedly an essential element of the history of Amsterdam, and more widely of the hstory of the Second World War. Here, you can visit the girl’s hiding place and a museum recounting her history and the history of World War II through her newspaper.

For the romantics, know that the hotel’s boat, The Tourist, can be hired. Why not offer a candlelight cruise on this magnificent boat on which Winston Churchill visited Amsterdam in 1946? This service will allow you, among others, to enjoy the cruise with a bottle of champagne, a picnic or even a dinner. To rent The Tourist will cost you 240€ for the first hour and 200€ per additional hour. Please note that the reservation can be canceled free of charge up to 4 hours before departure.

The Pulitzer has a very well equipped and very bright gym with windows overlooking the gardens.

Marianne, 34, mother of Victoria, 5 months old, from Lille

It was during my pregnancy that I discovered the Pulitzer Hotel Amsterdam. A friend was organizing a yoga and city-tour which my condition prevented me from attending. I had a crush on the design and elegance of this hotel and had promised myself that I would stay there. A little less than 5 months after the birth of our daughter, we decided to go on a weekend with her: we have always loved to stroll in the capitals, and we were curious to see how it wuld work with a baby … Living in Lille, Amsterdam was a destination that was both exotic and not far (4 hours by car).

I chose a high-end hotel to avoid unpleasant surprises on the hygiene and comfort side, to make sure of equipment being available and on-site service to help me in case of problems. I particularly chose the Pulitzer for its ideal location: it is located in the heart of the Nine Streets, these nine charming streets that intersect in the historic Canal District, where small cafes, restaurants and trendy boutiques come together. When you come with a baby who cannot yet sit behind a bike, it is better to be in the hypercentre to do everything on foot and with a stroller, and be able to easily return to the hotel in case of a baby bottle emergency or nappy change …

The other asset of the Pulitzer: its two inner courtyards, quiet, landscaped terraces and small garden with swings, ideal for children to play outside while you have a coffee or an aperitif.

“I particularly chose the Pulitzer for its ideal location”

I was very surprised to find that in this hotel with its sharp design and very trendy clientele, children were in fact quite numerous. The establishment makes it a point of honour to warmly welcome families, whatever the age of the children. With a small gift, a big smile, and the provision of everything necessary for the stay on request before your arrival: baby bath, baby monitor, bottle warmer, cot, high chair, diapers, etc.

The restaurant Jansz offers a children’s menu and colouring to keep the children happy, there is even a changing table in the toilets of the ground floor, a rare event in a hotel of this status! Rooms: With a baby, the size of the rooms allows you to install a crib without being too cramped; with larger children, you can enjoy the comfort of the family rooms, designed for four people with two bedrooms (one of which is a mezzanine), two bathrooms and a small lounge. Connecting rooms are also available.

“The establishment makes it a point of honor to warmly welcome families, regardless of the age of the children”

With my baby, I did not really have any need of family activities. I especially liked being in the centre to walk with the stroller along the canals, to the beautiful organic market of Noordermarkt, to go shopping in the Joordan district, to visit Anne Franck’s house or to go to the museum district on foot.

If I come back with larger children one day, I’ll book a private canal cruise aboard the Tourist, the Pulitzer’s beautiful boat, at the dock just outside the hotel.

Also at Jansz, the Pulitzer’s restaurant: the Jansz Family Sunday. An early dinner formula for families is offered every last Sunday of the month (except June, July, August). The concept: above the restaurant a games room is equipped with balloons, toys, movies and colouring tables, to occupy the children before dinner while parents enjoy an aperitif.

The hotel offers a pass for families: a room, breakfast and tickets for the NEMO science museum for the whole family, 350€ per night.

The hotel is almost a block away, with 25 traditional houses connected by a labyrinth of elevators and stairs. It is good to know if you are traveling with your stroller and a lot of luggage, even if they are taken to your room for you on your first day. A tip: leave your stroller at the reception, it is not easy to navigate on the floors where the corridors are narrow. Otherwise, ask for a family room on the ground floor.

Also note that the Pulitzer Bar is a popular locale in the area: you can enjoy a delicious cocktail without seeing a single tourist. Ideal to visit with your beloved once the children are asleep. Note – there is a little noise in the rooms above the bar.

“This address is perfect for parents who like to discover beautiful places, eat well and visit refined places”

I loved my stay at the Pulitzer, with its refined decor, our room and view of the canals, the friendliness of the staff and the memory of the terrace to enjoy the first rays of spring sun. I think this address is perfect for parents who like to discover beautiful places, eat well and visit refined places and who, like us, do not want to deprive themselves because they are with children.
