Denis, 46, married, father of 9-year old Kinnie and 8-year old Maelie, from Monaco

This is the first time we’ve explored Corfu as a family! The Greek island is only 1hour and 45minutes away from Monaco, a flight time that reassured my two princesses, who were eager checkout their holiday destination: Ikos Dassia.

To be comfortable upon arrival at the airport, we arranged for our transportation to the hotel with a Little Guest travel designer. The road our driver took was pleasant, between the seacoast and green forests. The trip lasted less than 20 minutes. We were received outside the hotel by the person in charge of customer relations. She informed us that we’ve been reserved a table for the buffet. On the table, there was a welcome drink for my wife and me, and two juices for the girls. What a pleasant attention to details!

The Ikos Dassia is a resort that is organized in two buildings, both being similar in terms of architectural designs: a modern and contemporary decor. The building is still a little young, however, its maintenance is of great quality and this makes you presume that the gardens will soon be lush.

We had booked a family suite with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, an ideal choice when organizing showers. Very spacious (50 m2), our cocoon had a splendid view to the sea from our two terraces.

Besides our very pleasant living space, we had two other favorite spots in the hotel: the four 27 °C heated pools and the beach. Even though the hotel was fully occupied, we had never felt a crowd swarming around us. The spaces between the beach chairs are well spaced-out, ensuring a certain privacy to each guest. A waiter would regularly check in to see if everything was going as planned, take orders for drinks, bring fresh fruit and even offer to clean our sunglasses. What an impeccable service!

Most of the staff speak English. We also met some staff members who spoke French, mostly the interns who study at the Vatel Hotel School. The girls were delighted they could exchange a few words with them. It is thanks to them that they learned that, at the ends of the hotel’s beach, free water activities were offered daily for 20 minutes, like paddle, pedal boating and kayaking.

The girls did not really take advantage of the kids-club’s programs, as they rather preferred to treat themselves to the numerous water activities offered by the hotel. The facility also has other services and spaces dedicated to delighting children, such as a baby-club with caring nannies, a high-quality babysitting service and extraordinary teen activities.

Every night, we loved having a family-come-together, to enjoy the outdoor shows, which we admired from an excitingly lively amphitheater bar. What a good time to spend together after dinner!

Another unforgettable memory of our stay is obviously our introductory family lessons to diving at the hotel’s pool. Very memorable, in terms of laughter and learning! The girls were very disciplined and had lots of fun.

My wife and I also had the chance to enjoy a wine tasting thanks to a warm chat with the hotel’s sommelier. We had the chance to savor some exquisite local wine varietals. It was a very enriching and convivial moment.

We took advantage of a slightly cloudy day to visit the old town of Corfu, listed by UNESCO. We got there without any difficulties thanks to the hotel’s shuttle service.

Corfu is a citadel city, pleasant to explore both for its cultural aspect, as well as for its shopping sites. During our walk, we saw the Old Fort and the Achillion Palace, formerly owned by the Empress Sissi.

We took advantage of this trip to town, to organize a boat trip at sunset. Our twilight ride took us to the shores of the tiny “Mouse Island”, just big enough to house a monastery.

What we unanimously preferred at Ikos Dassia was undoubtedly the quality of its cuisine. The catering service is a great highlight of the Ikos group. Their principle is to propose several themed restaurants and for one to make their table reservations in advance, via an application. The bonus? The choice and development of menus are supervised by a Michelin-starred chef. There are just so many different restaurants in the hotel that it’s impossible to dine at the same place every night!

The à la carte menus are extraordinary, and so is the wine. It really is a personalized and very attentive service. We loved the service. One evening, all four of us savored a modernized revisit of the traditional moussaka. What a delight! Regardless of our choices, each evening, the dish we chose met our expectations. In short, hats-off to the exquisite cuisine of Ikos Dassia.
