Parenthèse bien-être au Kenya

David, father of 3 daughters aged 8, 11 and 15, from Ireland

It was with my sweet family that I flew to the African continent for a unique timeless experience, in an exotic and revitalising setting. Heading for the sacred forests of southern Kenya, a preserved area that houses an exceptional property: Kinondo Kwetu.

Flawless hospitality

As soon as we arrived at Nairobi airport after a long flight, we jumped directly into a small plane towards Diani, where a driver was waiting for us. He immediately greeted us with a big smile, grabbed our luggage and invited us to take a seat in his Land Rover 4×4. There was a bottle of freshwater for everyone, a thoughtful gesture given the heat. It was at that very moment that we felt like a foretaste of what our holidays would be like: a family moment marked by a delicious idleness.

“A family moment marked by a delicious idleness

After a pleasant jeep safari ride, we arrived in a completely different world, where calm and tranquillity reign. Our host waited in front of the reception and gave us a remarkable warm welcome: we were taken to the bar to sip a cocktail while the staff of the establishment was busy collecting our luggage.

We received a brief presentation of the hotel and some practical information such as meal times and possible activities. After this pleasant check-in (to which I would give a score of 10/10 without hesitation), we discovered our suite.

A home away from home Une maison loin de la maison

We stayed in a charming ground floor suite, with two connecting rooms, one with a view of the ocean, and one with a view of the pool and outdoors. My wife, daughters and I loved the refined and harmonious decoration inspired by Africa, of course.

We received many attentions such as bathrobes and slippers for the whole family, water bottles, as well as toiletries and mosquito repellents (very useful to protect us from these unpleasant insects and keep them away). The service was discreet but very attentive, the perfect combo.

A refreshing break

After discovering our new pied-à-terre for the weekend, we decided to take a cool break at the pool that we were watching from the room… Heated and supervised by a lifeguard, the pool proves to be an ideal place to rest and relax. Always with attention to detail, Kinondo Kwetu staff provide its guests with tea and normal or detoxifying water.

“We received many attentions

While our daughters were diving and splashing, my wife and I loved to wake up every morning gently thanks to free fitness and yoga classes given by qualified teachers, all with a view of the sea.

A moment of complicity at the table

Horseback riding on the beach makes you hungry, you can ask my daughters! Fortunately, the hotel masters the art of haute cuisine like no other. In addition to their impeccable service, the staff is kind and attentive to the youngest. The menu is varied and offers delicious children’s menus. African cuisine is a true marvel, especially when it is prepared by expert hands who like to work with fresh and local produce.

Thank you so much

This hotel is truly incredible: there is absolute calm and serenity, crowned by natural and modest luxury. The establishment and our hosts are in perfect harmony with nature. A real little pearl!
