Le Domaine des Etangs is one of the most luxurious hotels in the centre-west of France. Located between Angoulême and Limoges, this charming property is nestled in the heart of the Charente region, known for the tranquillity of its green and hilly landscapes.
Stroll through the narrow streets of the typical village of Massignac, discover Limoges and its famous porcelains, visit the prestigious cellars of Cognac and enjoy the brandy of the same name, go to Bordeaux, classified “Ville d’Art et d’Histoire”, to visit its museum of contemporary art and its museum of wine, to taste seafood at the port of La Rochelle… the surroundings of the hotel invite many cultural and recreational outings.
The Bordeaux international airport is a 2-hour drive away and frequent rail connections make it easy to reach the hotel.
The largest 5-star resort in mainland France, Le Domaine des Etangs extends over 1,000 hectares of unspoiled nature. It is surrounded by large forests, ponds and pastures.
An emblem of the location, the dragonfly lives in permanent balance between the water, the earth, the air and the light of its colours. This equilibrium characterizes Le Domaine, which rests in a perfect marriage between man and nature, the harmony between the seasons and the five senses.
The XI century castle renovated with taste and decorated with works of contemporary art surrounding it:

- 1 kitchen garden
- 1 landscaped park
- 1 outdoor pool

The Château offers seven very large rooms and suites (from 36 sqm to 147 sqm), ideal for families. “Venus”, “Jupiter”, “Saturn”…each one bears the name of a planet and displays a personalized decoration, characterized by a blending of classical and contemporary styles. The light stone walls are in perfect harmony with the oak beams and modern furnishings.
La Longère, once home to the peasants who maintained the Domaine, now houses four large suites (from 63 sqm to 85 sqm), the decoration and dominant colours of which are inspired by the four seasons.
Built between two ponds, camouflaged in the hollow of a grove, open on a meadow stretching as far as the eye can see, the six Cottages are luxurious “maisonettes” (from 106 sqm to 393 sqm) where families can enjoy a long stay. The wood, the glass and the stone that characterize them testify to their ancestral craftsmanship. The dwellings are easily accessible, thanks to C-Zero cars, which are available to guests. To find out more, we have described the splendour of the place in a dedicated profile: the Cottages at Le Domaine des Étangs.
The Domaine des Etangs celebrates local cuisine. Dyades is a one star-rated restaurant with rustic stone walls, with an impressive period fireplace and a terrace where you can sit in fine weather. Chef’s menu evolves with the seasons and takes its inspiration from them. The Menu de l’instant, Menu Dyades, Menu des étoiles and Menu des enfants offer a variety of dishes that will take you to the heights of gastronomy.
Local producers and products are similarly honoured. The crayfish are caught in the Moulde, a river that crosses the Domaine, the vegetables come from the kitchen garden and the fruits are picked in the orchard.
A home-delivery service is offered for residents of the Métairies. It is also possible to privately book Monade, the castle’s dining room, for exceptional dinners.
Picnics and country barbecues are held in the grounds of the château, in the fields and in the forest, and will delight nature lovers.
