Located just a short 10-minute walk from the famous Grand Place, the Plaza Hotel offers guests a central location for discovering Brussels.

Belgium is a small country: as the crow flies, it takes only 4 hours to cross it from north to south! Staying in Brussels, central point on the map, will give you the opportunity to make many excursions, from the sea coast to the north, to the Ardennes forests to the south.

From Brussels International Airport (Zaventem), it will only take about 20 minutes to reach the Plaza by car. You can also take the train from the airport to Gare du Nord (15 minutes) and then you just have to walk 10 minutes.

 

DESCRIPTION

A beautiful building in Art Deco style, the Plaza Hotel stands proudly in the center of Brussels. Its exterior architecture is inspired by the famous George V hotel in Paris.

Charged with history, the Plaza has seen many celebrities, such as Winston Churchill, Charles Aznavour, Brigitte Bardot, Joséphine Baker and Yves Montand.

Today owned by Baron Van Gysel, the Plaza offers a service of exceptional quality and retains its palace charm of yesteryear. The Baron, himself a father and grandfather, has understood the importance of satisfying families and he makes every effort to make them feel at home.

The establishment has 189 rooms and suites, 1 restaurant, 1 bar, 1 beautiful fully renovated breakfast room, 1 fitness center, 1 theater, 1 parking and free Wi-Fi access throughout the hotel.

The Plaza is the only hotel in Belgium with the famous title of Official Supplier to the Belgian Court. This honorary title is a pledge of confidence and quality by which His Majesty the King of Belgium certifies the excellence of the services provided. So do not be surprised if you come across the Belgian sovereign at the corner of a corridor!

Looking to the future, the hotel has also been awarded with the “Green Key” label for its strict ecological and environmental charter. To keep up the momentum, the Plaza has recently installed 3 bee hives on the roof of the hotel and offers its own honey production, served for breakfast.

 

BEDROOMS

The rooms are in creamy tones, creating a relaxing, bright atmosphere and a pleasant sense of space. Varnished wood furniture and plush carpets add a luxurious and inviting touch.

The areas of the rooms are generous and vary between 30 sqm (322 sqft) and 340 sqm (3650 sqft). One thing is certain: families will not feel cramped!

The Classic Room (30 sqm – 322 sqft) is mainly reserved for couples. It is not possible to add a cot (90x200cm), however, a cot for children under 2 years can be installed for free in this room.

For a supplement of 30€/day, a single bed can be installed in Deluxe (34 sqm – 365 sqft) and Prestige (40 sqm – 430 sqft) rooms.

Good news for little gourmands: breakfast is offered to all children up to 12 years old!

The Junior Suite, with its 48 sqm (516 sqft), is ideal to accommodate 2 adults traveling with 1 child and looking for intimacy, calm and proximity. The suite can be separated into two separate parts, with a thick curtain dividing the parent area (equipped with a king-size bed) of the living area (equipped with an extra bed).

The Executives Suite (55 sqm – 592 sqft) has a bedroom, a bathroom and a separate living room. In the living room, the sofa very comfortable bed allows to stay 2 children under 12 years, or 1 teenager. For larger families, some Executive Suites can be connected to a Classic Room (30 sqm – 322 sqft), guaranteeing privacy and space for 2 adults and 4 children.

The Plaza Suite by Ruinart (65 sqm – 700 sqft), entirely decorated by the oldest French Champagne house Ruinart, has a bedroom, an elegant living room and a large bathroom. The sofa bed can also accommodate 2 children under 12 years or 1 teenager. To fully enjoy your stay, a bottle of champagne Ruinart is offered in the room. The must!

The height of luxury, the Presidential Suite and its 340 sqm (3650 sqft) is a real apartment where to spend a dream holiday with family. The presidential room, the heart of the suite, has 2 large walk-in closets and 1 bathroom with bathtub, jacuzzi and separate shower. In addition, the suite also has 2 ambassador rooms, 1 cozy living room, 1 dining room and 1 kitchen. Up to 8 people can stay in this suite popular with show business stars and heads of state.

 

GASTRONOMY

Completely renovated in 2017, the Plaza Breakfast Room is called “Charleston Lounge” and invites you to dive into the atmosphere of the Roaring Twenties. A subtle play of lights makes the whole place clear and natural … A generous sweet and savory buffet, known throughout the city, is served every morning.

At noon or in the evening, the restaurant L’Esterel offers all the classics of the brasserie cuisine, revisited in a gastronomic way. Game, fish, Irish meats … All products are of high quality and carefully crafted by Chef Olivier Bontemps. Note that the restaurant closes during the weekend: the opportunity to discover the best restaurants in the city center.

For a coffee or an aperitif, the bar welcomes you in a cozy and chic atmosphere under an impressive cupola painted with a clear blue sky at Magritte.

Located just a few minutes walk from the Plaza, La Grand Place is an unmissable historical site with its impressive buildings with reliefs worked with gold leaf. Follow the rue de l’Etuve to meet Manneken Pis. This little bronze man is less than a meter high and yet big by his fame! Symbol of Brussels, the Manneken Pis would have saved the city by extinguishing a fire in a way to say the least original.

It’s impossible to leave the Grand Place district without making a gourmet break. Dandoy (Rue au Beurre 31, 1000 Brussels) is a true Belgian institution. Since 1829 this artisanal biscuit factory specializes in speculoos and even supplies the Royal Court of Belgium. At Elisabeth (Rue du Marché aux Herbes 55, 1000 Brussels), you will find a wide variety of meringues, biscuits and chocolates. Test their Mellow Cakes (a subtle mix of biscuit, caramel and soft meringue). Finally, stop at Neuhaus (Grand Place 27, 1000 Brussels), the inventor of the famous Belgian praline.

The Mont des Arts offers a magnificent view, overlooking the center of Brussels and the belfry of the Grand Place. You will find the National Library of Belgium and, not far, the Royal Palace and the Parc de Bruxelles.

Next to the Mont des Arts, the Museum of Musical Instruments (Rue Montagne de la Cour 2, 1000 Brussels) will delight young and old alike. Before you even enter, take the time to admire its splendid facade Art Deco style. Inside, embark on a musical journey through the ages and continents. Just a 15-minute drive from the Plaza Hotel, Train World, the Train Museum (Princess Elisabeth 5, 1030 Brussels) has recently opened in an old train station.
