Nestled in the heart of one of Paris’ most charming districts, Terrass” Hotel unveils its sumptuous modern rooms and amazing designs hidden in a 20th-century building. Being both an artistic cradle and bohemian village, Montmartre has a rich and exciting history.
Formerly a maquis that has become a must-see site, La Butte attracts and inspires artists from around the world such as Renoir and Van Gogh from the end of the 19th century, who contributed to Montemartre’s global reputation.
This cultural past is today still visible in this charming district wherein the famous feature film by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Le Fabuleux Destin d’Amélie Poulain, was shot. Therefore, follow in the footsteps of this legendary protagonist and wander through the cobbled streets lined with bistros. Through this path, you will come face to face with the famous Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris (Sacré-Coeur), an iconic monument inspired by Romanesque and Byzantine architecture.
The history of Terrass” Hotel is also very interesting. Since 1911, the Hurand family have been passing on the keys to this luxurious establishment from generation to generation. Edmond Hurand initially built it before his grandson, Jean-Max Hurand, rehabilitated this hotel which finally became the meeting place for artists in the 1950s.
Recently renovated in 2015 by Edmond Hurand’s great-grandson, Romain Binet, and his sisters Marion Laroche and Emilie Arabyan, the premises remain steeped in history but are bathed in the spirit of the moment, thereby offering its guests high-end facility and impeccable service.
Terrass” Hotel offers its little guests:
Our small animal friends are equally welcomed here!
An, mother of 4, photographer, from Belgium
Our 2 youngest kids had never been in Paris, so the school holiday week in February was the perfect winter break & moment to take them there.
We asked them to search online and prepare themselves what they wanted to see & visit in Paris.
Paris, Emma & Matteo, here we come…
And I would like to share my testimony with you.
Of course, the Eiffel Tower was on their list, so the choice and Little Guest’s recommendation of staying at Hotel Terrasse during our stay, was just perfect… couldn’ t have had a better spot.
I checked some things in advance with the hotel manager, who gave me, from the first contact by email, a very warm feeling. The lady answered my questions within some hours, provided me with all the needed information and some great addresses for the kids.
Hotel Terrasse is situated in the centre of Paris, in the area of Montmartre – Sacré Coeur.
We did not need to worry about getting rid of the car, there is a large public parking on 5 minutes walk of the hotel, so we were told by the hotel manager.
We noticed the typical French facade of the hotel, entered the hotel in a beautiful big hall, full of natural sunlight. The friendly young staff gave us a warm welcome & the keys of the room.
A room… not just a room, it was the “Suite Exclusive Eiffel”, a peaceful room with a comfortable double master bed and a double sofa bed for the children. We were charmed with the chocolate presents on the beds with the personal welcome words, handwritten on a postcard.
The curtain was half-open, so it just took a few seconds to see the big proud of Paris, hello Eiffel Tower, the children were overwhelmed, and to be honest, me too. What an amazing view!
In the dark of the evening, the lights of the tower glittering every hour was as in a fairy tale.
Our little Boy Matteo said, mum, being in Paris with this view, I feel as being in the Disney movie “Ratatouille”.
We had a small but cosy balcony to sit outside, with a table and 2 red chairs (same colour of the red wicks we could also see from Moulin Rouge)
The bathroom is in beautiful Art deco style, with steel windows and black and white floor tiles. Enough space with a big bath, 2 bathroom sinks and a separate toilet room and shower room. Perfect luxury for a family room.
The biggest surprise for the kids was the teepee set up in the room, perfect to read and rest in, or just to hide and play, and also the gift of the plush sheep, that immediately became a new big friend. They sat and laugh with the 3 of them on the balcony, looking at Paris and its Eiffel Tower.
Discovering the hotel, we were very curious to see the hotel rooftop bar.
Oh yes indeed, what a charming terrace, next to the stylish hotel restaurant, for breakfast and dinnertime, all with a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower.
While having a drink and chat among us, the children could play on the table football and giggling in the rocking chair or ski lift cabine, funny.
The next days were a perfect combination of rest, and discovering romantic Paris with the kids.
Having done too many stairs to Sacré Coeur, we were rewarded with the view on the big city and the artistic Place Montmartre with many painter artists.
Very close to the Hotel, there is a metro station, so most of the displacements we did this way, but the fast and cheap Uber taxi was also handy for complicated connections.
From the half restored Notre Dame to the Pompidou centre, sauntering in the beautiful Luxembourg parc, discovering the Louvre Piramide… we have stolen all the sunny moments outside.
The few rainy hours, we were in French Bistros & musea: Science museum is absolutely fantastic for kids.
After many kilometres and walks, we were happy going back to our quiet hotel, enjoyed dinner in the sophisticated rooftop restaurant, with good food & wine, served by charming waiters.
Children were amused to see the cooks at work, always interesting with an open kitchen.
The same restaurant where we had breakfast, a window table with a view on… The Eiffel Tower.
The morning buffet was very generous, many choices of best French bakery, fresh-cut fruits and an in-a-minute-made sunny side up egg, with an espresso, couldn’t have a better start of our day!
Thank you charmy Paris and Little Guest for those wonderful days!
