LOCATION
Perched on the edge of the Adlisberg forest, The Dolder Grand ***** has a castle-like façade and offers you an enchanting escapade. Halfway between the bustle of the city and the peace and quiet of the countryside, this destination overlooks Lake Zurich to offer you a peaceful view of the city and the Alps.
The architectural composition of the building, which is worthy of a work of art, is surprising from the outset: the main building, built-in 1899, is extended by modern, fully glazed wings, inviting light to explore every nook and cranny. Every tone, every detail has been thought out to harmonize this bold creation. A marvel that no one will soon forget.
This 5-star hotel is ideally located close to Zurich Airport (15′) and the city centre (20′), from and to which transfers can be arranged. Looking for prestige? You can hire the services of a personal pilot who will pick you up directly in your city on board a Gulfstream G650, equipped as a suite.
DESCRIPTION
Since its creation in 1899, The Dolder Grand has been welcoming its guests in an elegant setting. Over the past century, the charming establishment has offered its legendary hospitality to famous personalities. European royal families at the end of the 19th century, literary and political figures in the 50s and 60s – Winston Churchill stayed here to take a sweet break after the horrors of war -, illustrious actors in the 70s such as John Wayne and Sophia Loren, international personalities such as Nelson Mandela and Michael Jackson in the 90s… the hotel’s guest book is a real treasure.
Restored, renovated and extended between 2001 and 2008, the original building now boasts ultra-comfortable rooms and common areas embellished with a unique collection of artwork (Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Salvador Dali are among those who have answered the call), as well as contemporary annexe wings designed by the London architectural studio Foster and Partners.
In total, The Dolder Grand has:
- 2 restaurants

ACCOMMODATION
Treat yourself to the luxury of being on first-name terms with the clouds while admiring breathtaking views of the Swiss landscape.
To the delight of families, The Dolder Grand offers a baby and child equipment kit for cosy and comfortable nights. Baby bathtub, bottle warmer… nothing is missing! For babies up to 3 years old, a bed can be installed free of charge in the room. Beyond this age, it is possible to add an extra single bed in all suites (at an extra charge of CHF 150).
Among the majestic rooms, the Junior Suites (53 to 64 m²) are popular with families with children. Generous space, a cosy lounge, a soft bed, the latest equipment, refined decoration, powdered colours… all crowned by a spectacular view that can be admired without moderation from the balcony.
The Suites (from 83 to 220 m²) have a living room separated from the bedroom, where you can gather around the fireplace. Perfect for tribes, they also have a fully equipped kitchenette, a private sauna, a luxurious bathroom with shower and hot bath tub, and a balcony with a view of the lake. Because The Dolder Grand loves to welcome the smart set, the Suites are connectable with one or two additional bedrooms.
Treat yourself to excellence, stay in a Top Suite. Each Top Suite is decorated with a unique theme inspired by a famous period or personality, such as the Masina Suite, named after the Italian actress Giulietta Masina. Spread over an area of 170 m², this space reflects the quintessence and glamour of the 1950s and offers its guests two bedrooms with king-size beds, a kitchenette, a living room with Fendi sofa, a sauna, two bathrooms, and many other treasures to discover.
By staying in a Suite, Top Suite or Residence (390 m² – ideal for families of 6 people), you will benefit from outstanding butler service.
GASTRONOMY
The Dolder Grand stands out for its award-winning gourmet establishments. The Restaurant and Saltz Restaurant, with 19 and 14 points respectively at the Gault&Millau, delight adults and young taste buds alike thanks to the children’s and allergen-free menus. High chairs are available for your convenience.
The culinary journey begins here at The Restaurant. Crowned with 2 Michelin stars, this gastronomic mecca offers fresh and innovative cuisine concocted by Chef Heiko Nieder and his brigade. In a chic and intimate atmosphere, families revel in menus with surprising flavours.
Designed and conceived by the artist Rolf Sachs, the Saltz Restaurant makes it a point of honour to simmer local and seasonal products. We especially love the aubergine gratin “Rosa Bianca” with goat’s cheese cream and zaatar.
Every year The Dolder Grand organises its own gastronomic festival “THE EPICURE – Days of Culinary Masterpieces”. For four days, an invited group of Swiss and international chefs take part in this prestigious event.
