A weekend away at Mas Salagros EcoResort

Having lived with the covid-19 restrictions for almost a year now, we were looking for a quiet place in the countryside to escape to for a weekend, and Mas Salagros EcoResort proved to be just what we were looking for.

Mas Salagros is the perfect starting point for a trip to the beach, to nature or even to the city! Located only 30 minutes away from Barcelona and about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the French border by car, Mas Salagros is ideally situated. In the heart of the Serralada Litoral Natural Park, you can enjoy the peace and quiet of the soothing countryside, while being just a short drive away from the beautiful beaches of the Costa Brava.

We chose to go to Mas Salagos by car, as the hotel offers parking options to its guests. However, it is also possible to get there by plane as the hotel is 40 km from Barcelona-El Prat airport.

Mas Salagros is a 5-star hotel with a 100% ecological philosophy. The family that owns the place is very attached to the concept of ecology and nature, and this can be felt in every corner of the hotel. No disposable plastics, eco-friendly bathroom amenities made with organic olive oil, electricity generated by solar panels, local food or food produced in their own farm, charging stations for electric cars… Luxury has never rhymed better with sustainability!

As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff. We were immediately offered help with moving our luggage to our room, and a glass of water or champagne, as well as fruit juice for the children, was offered to us on our arrival.

We stayed in the superior room with private garden. Our room was located at the end of the estate, with a private garden near the forest. In fact, we were able to see that most of the rooms had a terrace or a private garden, perfect for enjoying the sun with your family! The room in itself was simple and authentic, decorated in the style of a cabin in the woods, and had all the necessary comforts: a comfortable bed, all the necessary bathroom amenities, plenty of space in the dressing… in short, it had everything we needed. We greatly appreciated the direct access to our private garden with a terrace, where we could enjoy the beautiful sunny days.

For families travelling with young children, Mas Salagros is a true paradise on earth! The hotel has a kids-club for children aged 4 and over. There, your little ones can participate in several activities, in line with the hotel’s sustainable philosophy, such as drawing, face painting or clothes dyeing. Due to covid restrictions, activities need to be booked in advance, do not hesitate to ask a Travel Designer at Little Guest for more information. For animal lovers, Mas Salagros also has a small farm where you can feed goats and chickens – a real treat for the children!

While the kids are having fun at the kids-club, parents can rent electric bikes and go for a ride in the national park or take a yoga class, which is offered free of charge by the hotel.

In the evening, there is a delicious range of restaurants to choose from in the hotel. We chose the restaurant 1497, a gastronomic restaurant which serves degustation menus to die for. I highly recommend the stuffed ravioli with lobster and butternut squash, those are delicious! And do not hesitate to pair your dish with their white wine suggestion.

Last but not least, you will also find the famous Spanish spa brand “Aire” at Mas Salagros, a spa specializing in thermal baths offering the “experience of the water journey”: a path of almost two hours with different pools and waters, from Dead Sea salty waters to hot and cold variations, both invigorating and relaxing. This unique experience can also be paired with a relaxing massage and sauna.

I highly recommend this hotel to families looking to escape in a natural and relaxing setting, while discovering Catalonia, the Costa Brava, and Barcelona. With quality service, activities for children and their parents, all in the quiet of nature, Mas Salagros is a real gem not to be missed!
