Wonderful stay at Westin Punta Cana

We’ve had the chance to spend our vacation within the Westin Punta Cana during the month of March! A very sunny place with wonderful beaches, right on the west coast of the Dominican Republic. Since the airport is pretty close to the hotel, our transfer went pretty quickly. Right after our arrival, our luggage porter took care of our belongings and showed us the way to the reception. Our check-in was fast, without any issue, and we were offered fresh fruit juices.

The room we had chosen for our stay was a Premium Room, a large living space with a very spacious bathroom and a large closet room. We had a nice balcony with direct pool view, a partial view on the ocean and a wider one over the gardens of the hotel, with many palm trees, which was very appreciated as we love greenery. This vegetation also allowed more intimacy, with no other room directly facing ours, and as the hotel is of a U-shape, all have pretty much the same view.

A white fine sand beach was waiting for us right in front of the hotel! Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t really on our side as strong winds were blowing, we haven’t had the chance to enjoy much of the sea. However, many options were available to enjoy our stay, such as sports or even diving with one of the diving centres of the hotel!

The hotel provides with free shuttle service that let you reach any place around the resort, the 6 restaurants, the golf courts, the shopping centre, the Punta Cana village but also the Six Senses Spa, the Ecological Foundation and the animal farm where we met with horses.

We particularly appreciated the 2 restaurants that are found within the hotel, which both propose an international cuisine. We especially liked the Playa Blanca restaurant, which is just at a 5-minute walk on the beach. The food was delicious, and the view was sumptuous from the sunbed area where we then spent our afternoon. For dinner, however, I would strongly recommend The Grill, a restaurant just a short ride away in the free shuttle. It is located in a wonderful building with a spa, next to the beach and the pool, an amazing place where to spend your day. There are 2 restaurants directly in the hotel with international cuisine.

Overall, the hotel is very pleasant, we just felt like home and the staff quickly remembers your name and even the things you like, in almost just one day! The Westin Punta Cana is perfect for families, as we saw many young children play in the kids pool area as well as around the one that is found in the small garden. In my opinion, the best rooms for families with small children would be the ones on the ground floor as they have direct access to the grass area.

The kids-club is also located in the hotel. It is rather small, but it does provide daily supervised activities on demand. The staff is always present by the pool, where you can grab towels. Do not hesitate to ask them for more details on the current program for children, they personally helped us very well! From what we could observe though, we noticed that the children spent most of the time with their parents or outside the resort, as there are many activities to do and places to visit.

We would like to make a special note for the airport arrival and departure experience we had: the hotel can arrange airport VIP assistance, which we were able to try. The journey starts right out of the plane. Down the stairs, we were greeted by the VIP services with an administrator from the hotel and luggage porter with a private shuttle. We were taken through all the checking via fast-track. Everything was taken care of for us until we arrived in our hotel room!

The same service was also provided to us upon the return, with the difference that we were able to wait for the boarding in the VIP lounge with snacks, drinks and air conditioning (which is not available in the hall of the airport).

In conclusion, this hotel met our expectations, and beyond. It is very simple and yet honest, with high-quality services. It is perfect for families wanting to spend time together, relax by the pool or beach or explore nature in the surroundings of the resort.
