Mountain and fresh air at Chalet Royalp

After a quick flight of an hour and a half, I landed in Geneva and then headed to the Chalet RoyAlp at roughly 130 kilometres from there, thanks to the transfer services of the hotel, more exactly to Villars-sur-Ollons. A 5-star hotel right at the foot of the mountains that is the promise of a complete awe.

What a surprise it is to discover this place! The hotel consists in several chalets, smaller and bigger ones and laid out so to give the impression of a Swiss village, the constructions are made of wood, which makes them perfectly blend with the landscape.

At my arrival at the reception desk, I was kindly and warmly greeted, and my luggage immediately was taken care of by two porters. The check-in was fast and efficient, and all my questions were answered in a polite and exact manner by the director of sales and marketing of the hotel who welcomed me. My luggage was left in my room before my entrance. Yet, finding this room was not the easiest part of my stay, as the hotel is divided into two aisles which are both served by a lift. But in the end, everything is correctly indicated.

After a warm welcome and after I’ve settled in the accommodation that had been reserved for me, I eventually took my marks: a very pleasant and hearty atmosphere thanks to the woodwork of the decoration and to the breathtaking view on the mountains and the surroundings. A peaceful place, for a comfortable and restful stay. However, it was quite hot in my room, and there unfortunately was no way to lower the temperature.

An irreproachable night service (with small chocolates as a bonus!), a lot of storage compartments which is ideal for skiers, a large balcony, apple juice at your disposal, a very comfortable bed, slippers that are close to perfection: my stay was pleasant on all aspects! With a 40 sqm surface area, the accommodation that had been reserved for me can easily meet the criteria of a family looking for bewilderment and comfort.

Moreover, the kids-club is a true paradise for children! The entertainers speak English and the place seems to be perfectly suitable for the safety of the younger children, besides being very clean. And what to say about the Teen-room… Table tennis, table football, billiards and a TV with video game consoles and movies available. It is open every day, and beware, as your teenagers will want to stay there!

Then, for the youngest children, a babysitting service is available within the hotel for 3 months old babies and more. Another asset from this hotel is that they provide to families all the amenities needed and place them in your room before arrival and can help you with more in case you need it.

The time had come to try the restaurant of the hotel, and I was delighted. The place is very welcoming and clean. The catering was irreproachable, and the waiting time was not too long nor too short, besides the fact that the dishes were delicious. The restaurant also proposes a buffet, with plenty of choice kept under glass domes and ramekins. A healthy and varied food that will please both parents and children, also given the fact that the buffets are adapted to the heights of the latter!

What a better to enjoy your time after a meal than heading to the spa for a beauty check? Or even just a simple relaxing time? The Spa by RoyAlp welcomes parents but also children, which is an undeniable asset of theirs. The care programme is generous and very complete. However, the price may seem quite high, but they are adequate with the living standards of Switzerland.

Here was a trip that I will not forget soon, especially given the exceptional setting in which this exceptional hotel is found: a verdant and mountainous landscape! An unparalleled comfort, a hearty and warm decoration and welcome, a delicious cuisine and truly relaxing spa cares.
