Jérôme, 37 years old, married, father of Achille, 6 years old, from Brussels

During the last winter holidays, I stayed with my family at the Hotel Palacio de Isora on the island of Tenerife. As soon as we arrived, we were amazed by the beauty and calm of this hotel, located between the Atlantic Ocean and Mount Teide. We chose this destination because we wanted to get away to the sun during the winter and we couldn’t have wished for a better place! Beaches away from the tourists, swimming pools, original restaurants, nature walks, sports activities for all ages, the Palacio de Isora will not leave you indifferent!

After a smooth four-hour flight, we landed at Tenerife South airport. From there we hired a car and arrived at the hotel about 30 minutes later. As soon as we arrived, we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the hotelwith its typical Spanish architectural arcades and its breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean.

The hotel staff welcomed us directly in French and had a kind word for our 6-year-old son Achille.

We dropped our bags in a beautiful and spacious Deluxe room of about 50 square meters with a view on the sea. The bathroom was very large with a bathtub and a walk-in shower. In addition, Clarins products and children’s cosmetics were offered. The advantage of this room is the large terrace which is very practical for drying swimming costumes and perfect for enjoying the sunset.

On our son’s bed, welcome gifts were waiting for him: beach rackets, colouring backpack and drawing book!

Another positive point that we really appreciated was the size of the storage spaces. It was very practical to put all our things in, and will be even more so if you travel with your family!

This room category gives access to the Red Level For Families service. This benefit is really great as we had a private concierge dedicated to our family. This made it easy for us to book bikes, nearby restaurants, sports classes, spa treatments and even a boat! This service also gave us all day access to a private lounge where free drinks are distributed throughout the day, as well as free access to the tennis court and a VIP area at the children’s pool and breakfast.

A small disadvantage of our room was that in the evenings we could hear some music from the hotel’s theme nights. But this did not prevent us from having a nice and cosy night. By the way, these live music evenings are very pleasant to enjoy with a cocktail in hand.

At first glance the resort may seem huge, but it is so well organised with its private gardens, water features and multiple family areas, that you really get the feeling of staying in a human-sized hotel.

The Palacio de Isora is located near several beaches with a heavenly atmosphere, including Al Cala with natural pools, all surrounded by volcanic rocks that contribute to the intimacy of the place. Not far away, I spotted children’s playgrounds and a skate park, something for the whole family!

The location of the hotel is incredible, facing the infinity pool it feels like the Caribbean. The seaside promenade along the coast is very pretty and convenient with children.

The volcanic region also offers sublime hiking possibilities. During our stay, we walked on the top of the inactive volcano Teide where we enjoyed a breathtaking view of the island and the ocean. We also visited the sublime village of Masca, a typical small village perched in the mountainous relief.

One of our best memories is the boat trip, where we got up close and personal with whales, sea turtles and dolphins!

The hotel itself also offers many activities. The resort features several pools: we jumped into the saltwater pool, which is the largest in Europe, and then relaxed on the Balinese beds around it. Outside, there is another supervised pool with a large pirate ship for the kids, as well as a baby pool – something for all ages to enjoy!

There are even diving lessons in the pool for children aged 8 and over!

All the pools have depths adapted to young children, which is really great and very safe. Also, the presence of lifeguards is very much appreciated!

Our son was also able to have fun in the kids’ club and make lots of friends.

For babies, the « baby » section in the hotel shop is very well thought out, with nappies, purées in jars, etc.

For sports enthusiasts, the hotel has a great fitness room with plenty of Technogym equipment, as well as pilates and yoga classes. There is also the possibility to take tennis lessons at the Sunball school, which also organises tournaments for children and adults.

Every day, my wife participated in free group sports classes such as yoga, aqua gym and waterbike.

The hotel offers several restaurants and bars, all with a wide variety of cuisines. There was so much choice that we didn’t get to try everything before we left.

We first ate at the Ocean restaurant. This restaurant offers a variety of Italian cuisine – we ate every last morsel! The restaurant also has a great view of the sunset.

The second restaurant we tried was the Oasis Pool, a Mediterranean restaurant by the hotel’s pool with varied and delicious dishes.

Finally, before leaving, we enjoyed a very nice cocktail with our feet in the sand at Areia Beach Bar, to enjoy the beach one last time.

Hats off to the restaurant staff, as even in the Covid period we received wonderful service and the food was tasty.

We had a great stay at the Palacio de Isora and came away with a healthy dose of vitamin D and batteries recharged like never before! This hotel on the Atlantic Ocean is a little piece of heaven. Whether you are travelling as a couple or a family, whether you are more of a beach person or a hiker, your stay will be a success.

We had an excellent stay, really above our expectations and loved the kindness of the staff and the impeccable service.

A little tip before you leave: book a table at the Italian restaurant Sauco, located on the sea front 5 minute’s walk from the hotel. The food is delicious and affordable (€18 for the lobster spaghetti!) and the view of the ocean is breathtaking…
