A sporting and rejuvenating weekend at the Hôtel du Golf Barrière, Deauville

We stayed at the Hôtel du Golf Barrière in Deauville for three nights over a long weekend in July, and it was an invigorating and memorable break for the whole family. With my wife, our son Achille, aged 10, and our faithful little dog June, we were seduced by the peaceful atmosphere and the quality of the services on offer.

Perched on the heights of Deauville, around 5-10 minutes from the town centre, the hotel offers a peaceful setting and magnificent views of the golf course, the town below… and the sea in the distance. Our spacious room overlooked this breathtaking panorama.

The weekend was punctuated by some unforgettable moments, starting with the Little Guest Race, a Samsonite suitcase race organised in the hotel lanes by Little Guest. A moment of pure fun, joy and family fun, which delighted young and old alike!

Achille was also able to take part in a one-hour introduction to golf (€80), which was perfectly supervised and really well thought out for children. He came away proud and delighted. The Kids Club, run by the bubbly Niki, is also a real success. Thanks to her, our son made new friends from Belgium, France and Switzerland… He played, laughed and shared. There’s a real sense of caring, a gentle, family atmosphere. Special mention to Niki for her kindness and communicative energy.

Another highlight was an exceptional workshop with two great French judo champions, Romane Dicko and Sarah-Léonie Cysique, both Olympic medallists. Not only did they introduce the children to the basics of judo, but they also shared with them what goes on behind the scenes in the life of a top-level sportswoman. These sporting encounters, organised throughout the holidays, add real value to the stay.

As for relaxation, we took full advantage of the outdoor swimming pool heated to 28°C, the sauna, the hammam and the gym. Everything is designed so that everyone can find their own pace. The bikes loaned by the hotel gave us the opportunity to enjoy some lovely rides in the surrounding area – but be careful: what goes down must come back up! And the uphill return to the hotel can be a bit sporty on a bike!

For those who want to explore Deauville without constraints, the hotel provides free shuttles to reach the other Barrière establishments in the group: the Royal, the Normandy, the racecourse, etc. It’s very practical and well organised. The hotel has a large free car park, but no valet service.

The breakfast is worthy of the address: served facing the golf course, it offers a copious, fresh buffet with some great options. All in an elegant, relaxed atmosphere. And of course, June, our little dog, was perfectly welcomed, with basket, bowls and little attentions on her arrival. The waiters, like all the staff, were very attentive, always smiling, attentive and discreet.

Our stay at the Hôtel du Golf exceeded our expectations. The weather was ideal, the atmosphere serene and the facilities irreproachable. It’s the perfect place for a family getaway, in a region that perfectly combines sport, relaxation and the art of living.

We left Deauville with our heads full of memories… and a strong desire to return.
